Mary Colas, RN, MHA, Appointed as Surgery Manager at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Colas, RN, MHA, as the new Surgery Manager. Mary brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, having dedicated nearly four decades to the healthcare industry.

She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Napa Valley College and her Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Bellevue University in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her career in healthcare began in 1985, and she has been a registered nurse since 1989. Throughout her extensive career, she has demonstrated compassion and commitment to her colleagues, patient care, clinical excellence, and healthcare leadership.

Mary's professional journey includes an impressive 29-year tenure at Kaiser Permanente, where she served in various capacities including Registered Nurse, Clinic Manager, and House Supervisor. In her most recent role, she excelled as the Director of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Clinical Education for two hospitals, overseeing over 500 nurses and providing care for 250,000 members. Her leadership was instrumental in enhancing clinical operations and education, ensuring high standards of care and efficiency.

As she steps into her new role at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, Mary is enthusiastic about contributing to the Surgery Department. "We have a great team, and I am eager to build on that foundation," she said. "I also aim to enhance education and implement efficiencies that will benefit both our staff and patients."

Tonya Teegardin, Chief Nursing Officer at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, expressed her excitement about Mary's arrival. "We are thrilled to welcome Mary Colas to our team," said Teegardin. "Her years of experience and dedication to excellence in patient care make her the ideal candidate with our growing Surgical Department. Mary Colas is not only a dedicated professional but also a devoted family person. She has been married to her husband Joseph for 30 years. Together, they have four grown children, with two residing in California, one in Spokane, and one in Missouri. Mary and Joseph are also proud grandparents of two grandchildren.

Mary’s dedication to fostering teamwork and her vision for continuous improvement make her a valuable addition to the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center team. Her leadership is expected to drive advancements in surgical services, benefiting the community and reinforcing the center's commitment to exceptional healthcare.
